Who We Are
Mission
Our mission is to protect access to climbing in Southern Nevada by encouraging responsible stewardship and community involvement among local climbers.
Overview
The Southern Nevada Climber’s Coalition (SNCC) is a grassroots affiliate of the Access Fund. We advocate for rock climbers in Southern Nevada by promoting responsible stewardship of local resources and cultivating greater community awareness and involvement.
The SNCC provides an avenue for constructive dialogue between climbers and local land managers, as well as a resource for local and visiting climbers seeking information about the world-class climbing destinations in Southern Nevada.
Funding for SNCC projects comes primarily from members and partnering organizations such the Access Fund, American Alpine Club (AAC) and the American Safe Climbing Association (ASCA). We are fortunate enough to have support from organizations like the American Alpine Institute (AAI), American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA) and many local businesses.

Hello all, I've been a member of the Vegas climbing community for the last 5 years, and served as the membership coordinator for the SNCC in 2023. In that first year, I was able to learn a lot about how the SNCC functions and the role it plays in advocating for climbers in Southern Nevada. In this role, I interacted with the Access Fund for our memberships, crafted emails from the SNCC, helped plan our two big events in the Reel Rock showing and Red Rock Rehab, and dabbled in social media when necessary. We have some great board members stepping away from the SNCC this year, leaving some big shoes to fill. I'm hoping I can help fill some of those as the SNCC president for 2024.

Xavier is a 28 year climber in Southern Nevada and 45 year resident who enjoys serving the climbing community in whatever way possible. He's been a past President and board member and looks forward to serving, whether that's participating in community projects, helping to organize events, or assisting to navigate the issues facing climbers in Southern Nevada today.

Hello! I am an extremely passionate climber who wants to help bring climbing to more people and continue to preserve access to these special areas. Climbing has changed my life since I first started in college and I know that it can continue to benefit others through the wonderful community we are all a part of. Any way that I can see myself getting more involved, I am pursuing and I hope you may see some of my impact through your journey as well. See you out there!

Being from the Greater Pittsburgh Area near the Appalachian Mountains, I’ve always been a nature and wildlife enthusiast (mostly hiking, hunting, and fishing)! I started climbing in 2019 and have become more excited about and dedicated to the sport since moving to Vegas in July. The warmth of the climbing community here and the majesty of Red Rock Canyon have inspired me to get involved and do my part in making climbing safe and accessible. I’m passionate about conservation, climbing, and being a good steward of the environment, so when I heard about the opportunity to help out an organization that combines these interests, I was stoked!

Like many of you, I spend my free time exploring all the amazing climbing that Southern Nevada offers. Having lived in Las Vegas for the past 3 years, it also means I have spent lots of time not climbing - waiting in line for routes, at Mt Charleston parking with some Tesla taking up 3 spots somehow, from flat tires on beat up roads out at Potosi, or cleaning up dog poop from trails in Kraft. With the inevitable growth of climbing and recreation in the area, I understand these don’t have simple fixes but I am passionate about how we can make this better. I want to make sure we support growth in access to existing and new climbing areas, make sure route developers are supported, bring more visibility to the work of the SNCC, and make it easier to get involved. I have been climbing for over 10 years, an Access Fund member since 2015, a strong supporter of the ASCA and RRGCC

My name is Austin Martell, also known as "The Climbing Realtor." My lifelong passion for the outdoors and commitment to community stewardship drive my desire to be actively involved. Since my childhood, I've been deeply connected to nature, and upon arriving in Vegas in 2016, the thriving rock climbing scene and community captivated me. Transitioning from wildland firefighting to real estate allowed me to channel my focus into being more present in Vegas and contributing to our community.

After spending over 18 months traveling around the US with my partner, checking out new areas, familiar favorites, and trying to decide where we wanted to live, Vegas became a clear option and we're excited to be putting down roots. I started climbing in California back in 2010 and absolutely fell in love with the movement of it and the opportunities to explore beautiful places like Las Vegas in a way that most people don't get to experience. Over 14 years later, I'm still in love with the sport and am excited to get involved in the local climbing community and contribute in any way I can to ensure ongoing access for both local and visiting climbers.

My name is Dave Campbell and have served as a Director at Large with a focus on partnerships and events for the past two years. I've been a Las Vegas resident for 14 years and love sharing my passion for climbing with people of all skills and backgrounds. My role has allowed me to continue to grow our footprint in the community through events and partnerships that bring awareness to climbing, outdoor recreation, and environmental stewardship. I'm dedicated to ensuring our outdoor spaces are protected for future use, while continuing to build a strong and more transparent relationship with our local government agencies that manage our local areas and open land in Southern Nevada.

My name is Max and I’ve been volunteering with SNCC for about 2 years. I’m passionate about climbing and community and am really stoked to be getting more involved with the board. My experience has been primarily on the volunteer side of things – helping scrub graffiti, reworking trails in popular areas and cleaning up litter. This year, I’m excited to take a more active role in helping to plan and organize these sorts of volunteer opportunities and community gatherings.
